  • Since I don't know any of the reporters listed here at The Nerve and just because you tell us that you are interested in transparent government....how will the public know that you are not like the national media...hell bent on your own agenda?
We need news reporters who will simply report the news as it happens not push opinions to shape the way we should think.
How do we know you will report the news and nothing but the news?
I'm not convinced by what you and other reporters have written on this site.

  • we have slept far too long and the driver of the bus has taken us where we did not want to go.  those we have trusted to warn us when a wrong turn is made seem to have allied themselves with the driver.  it will be efforts like yours that help awaken the passengers so that we can turn our bus around.

  • After several years of quiet speculation, and nervous whispers at High School sporting events, I think a healthy number of my fellow Kershaw County residents have finally had "enough".  If you watch or read the news on WISTV.com, you no doubt saw or heard about the article entitled "Kershaw County to cut 1.5 Million from Education...".  We in Kershaw County do understand that things are "tough all over", and believe me, we are not having a "poor me, pity party" over here.  However, we also recognize the "great divide" between the have's and have-not's, and the "have-not's" are sick and tired of watching our county's children cheated out of the educations that are PROMISED TO THEM as citizens of this great nation.  There is plenty of evidence pointing to the gross MISUSE OF PUBLIC FUNDS (local, state, and federal funds); however, because there are SO MANY HANDS IN THE POT(S), stirring this muck around, it's daunting to think about taking a stand...ALONE.
Here's the "big butt" (pun definitely intended):
There are hundreds are ticked off, irritated, over-worked, under-paid, UNDER-APPRECIATED, dedicated, hard-core, kid-loving TEACHERS (SCHOOL EMPLOYEES OF ALL KINDS) AND PARENTS, who have been hurt by THIS PARTICULAR GROUP OF self-serving, hypocritical, egotistical, pompous, self-seeking, and narcissistic people / relatives.  *There is a loosely formed Nepotism Policy on the books that was approved ONLY IN THE PAST YEAR, by the current Superintendent, Frank Morgan.  (It was not his idea, however, to put the plan into place, and NEPOTISM REMAINS RAMPANT IN KERSHAW COUNTY...Especially in the North Central area.)
*****EACH TIME THIS GROUP DOES SOMETHING THAT SEEMS EXCEPTIONALLY OUTRAGEOUS, THE "HAVE-NOTS" SHOULD BE CALLING / NETWORKING, AND DISCUSSING IT.  There is truly strength in numbers.  Each of us feels out-numbered fighting our battle alone...but together, the strength we could have would be astounding.  WE COULD TURN THIS AROUND.  WE COULD VOTE THEM ALL OUT.  THERE ARE 6 COUNTY COUNCIL SEATS COMING VACANT!!  THERE ARE SEVERAL SCHOOL BOARD SEATS OPENING UP SOON, TOO.  WITH THE SHERIFF'S RACE COMING...WE COULD TAKE OUR TOWNS BACK...DON'T WE OUTNUMBER THEM?????

    Here's hopin I hit a nerve....
    Kershaw County School District Office
    Dubose Ct.
    Camden, SC
Better get there early 4:45; 1/14/10 (Thursday)
    OR email me:  de.terminator@live.com

I believe I have rambled enough for this evening.  My intention was to call your attention to the article being carried today, 1/13/10, on WISTV.com.  It was very insightful; the comments made afterward by Kershaw County citizens, however, were even more insightful.  There was also a good bit of attention drawn to the fact that the KCSD did not cooperate with WISTV, or local citizens, by giving information freely.  (It almost seemed as if they were hiding something?!)  Last Tuesday night's meeting, was, oddly enough, moved to a morning meeting, when most people are working.  Additionally, another meeting has been called for Thursday night (Jan. 14), but no location was given, even on the District's own website until late on the afternoon of the 13th.  THE MEETING TIME IS ODD, TOO, BEGINNING AT 5:15PM; WITH AN EXECUTIVE SESSION BEING PLANNED FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE MEETING, AND ATTENDEES BEING EXPECTED TO WAIT UNTIL THE END FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK OF ANY CONCERNS...
    OK...Let the games begin.

  • When are our state legislators going to do something constructive about canidate restoration for political office, there must be a bill put in place that any canidate running for any office in the state of South Carolina must represent a true birth certificate to the State Attorney General for approval before they can be put on any canidate roster for election,. That is from the Federal canidates to the local canidates, alot of  required needs of the people can meet with this process. If this is not done the elected votes will not be certified that that canidate.

  • Do you REALLY want to know where the money for education goes? That's so easy.

It goes for motel rooms, vehicles, fuel, and expenditures for School Board members and administrations to go to Columbia, other states, and even other countries - all for social and political clout, even to interview and hire foreign instructors at lower wages.

It goes for specious programs that have been set up all over the country, to pay not only for those programs (many of them socialistic 'instructional', feel-good programs) to come into your children's schools and 'instruct' them, but also for subscriptions to their claptrap to ensure that your children get a steady indoctrination in their new-wave falsehoods and fantasies. Any and every topic, from character improvement to goal-setting, is taught by false instructors who have gotten a book published or a paper printed. Hundreds of thousands of dollars go to these indoctrination groups every year. Every "new" idea - mostly repackaged old ideas for the next term - costs money.

Your teachers are members of "Crisis Team"s and other groups that, in the event of a true crisis or occurrence, are never grouped or called upon - administration as always steps in and makes decisions, no matter how poorly equipped or planned they are. You have paid for these teachers' training in all sorts of fields, those fields which have updates and changes year to year, that no one in the administration uses or ever plans to use. But to comply with Federal and State regulation, they send teachers to these classes and updates at YOUR expense.

Your money does not go to increase teacher efficiency or efficacy. It goes to unionized demands for more money and less class time for teachers with tenure; it goes for everything from enhanced teachers' lounges to more and more paid leave time. Teachers take time off for everything from specious 'classes' that they never use in the classroom, to non-emergent and non-required  physical enhancements.

For every time a teacher is gone from their classroom, a substitute has to be hired and paid - which results in less classroom education for the students. You are paying teachers to take hours, sometimes weeks, off of their regularly scheduled workdays - and paying for their motel rooms (they don't stay at Motel 6, folks), their food, their mini-vacations that they tell you is 'educational time' - and no one, especially not the School Boards who go with them on these excursions, ever brings anything that they can or will use back with them.

  • I won't argue with most of what you said. This statement, however, is wrong: "It goes to unionized demands for more money..."

There are no teacher unions in SC. We are a non-union state.
